History of Poppers and the names
Many years ago when these products first became popular the term poppers was first used to describe the popping noise that could be heard when opening the small vial that contained Amyl Nitrite. The name poppers was born and they have always been known by the term poppers since.
Amyl nitrite comes from the nitrate family. Amyl nitrite is used by doctors and physicians. People to refer to the original poppers as Amyl which is a reference to Amyl nitrate or amyl nitrite. Due to the nature of the product being used by doctors the authorities (MHRA) made the decision to flex their muscles and forced the manufacturers to stop making poppers.
